She is wearing a short gown under a dress and full skirt trimmed, with fur at the wrists and cut almost round at the neck. A broad belt, embroidered and elaborately decorated, is buckled loosely at the waist. Her head-dress - known as the "kennel" or pedimented shape - confines her hair beneath a cap, stiffly wired to keep its shape. It has long sides known as "lappets" which hang down past the shoulders.
